Abstract
通常, 光子検出は測定器による光子の吸収過程で実現されるため, 光の真空揺らぎには反応しない.これに対し, 誘導放出過程での光子検出(量子カウンター)は, 真空揺らぎにも反応することが期待されていた.我々は, 誘導パラメトリック過程を利用することで量子カウンターを実現し, 真空揺らぎを含めた光の強度相関を観測することに成功した.本稿では, 量子カウンターの実験を通して, 量子揺らぎと量子測定過程がかかわる物理の魅力を紹介したい.
When the electromagnetic field is detected by stimulated emission, rather than by absorption, antinormally ordered photodetection can be realized. One of the distinct features of this photodetection scheme, i.e., a quantum counter, is its sensitivity to vacuum fluctuations. We have recently succeeded in experimentally demonstrating the quantum counter by exploiting stimulated parametric down-conversion. Here, we present some interesting physics concerning vacuum fluctuations and quantum measurement processes through our experiment on the quantum counter.
