Abstract

Body stalk anomaly(BSA), a subtype of an anterior abdominal wall defects, is extremely rare. We reported a case of BSA which abnormal exieriorization of abdominal contents was pointed out in 12 gestational weeks. Because the ultrasound examination and magnetic resonance imagine(MRI)revealed that the amniotic membrane attached to the placenta and short umbilical cord was existed, we most suspected BSA at 33 gestational weeks. After cesarean delivery, multiple anomalies compatible with BSA were existed and the baby was died after 6 hours at delivery. Amniotic epithelium covered on side of the umbilical cord, so there was a persistence of the extra-embryonic coelomic space.
