テキサスの井戸から採集された地下水棲三岐腸類の1種Dendrocoelopsis americana (HYMAN, 1939)の形態 Occurrence of Dendrocoelopsis americana (HYMAN, 1939) in Soda Water Well, Texas, U.S.A. (Turbellaria, Tricladida, Paludicola)

Abstract

Dendrocoelopsis americana (HYMAN, 1939)はオクラホマ州東北郡とアーカンソー州西部の洞穴地下水と湧泉に分布する白色の淡水棲三岐腸類で,頭部に2列に並んだ小眼(10〜20個)があり,弱い吸着器官を持つ種類である.テキサス州東北部のSoda Water Well(ソーダ水の味がするところから名付けられた)から,本種の無眼個体が得られたので,その形態を記載した.ユーラシア大陸起原と考えられる本属(キタオオウズムシ属)の虫は5種類が北アメリカに産する.うち,D. americanaはロッキー山脈の東側に分布する唯一の種である.オクラホマ〜アーカンソーの既知産地とテキサスの新産地はRed Riverの峡谷で分離されており,今回の記録は分布学的にも興味がある.

Dendrocoelopsis americana (HYMAN, 1939), a troglophilic species of freshwater planarian, is known from several cave waters and springs in Oklahoma and Arkansas, U.S.A. The species has many eyes, arranged in two almost parallel longitudinal rows. Eyeless specimens of this species were collected from Soda Water Well, near Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas. Morphological and histological descriptions of our material are given in the present paper, together with some considerations about its taxonomy and geographical distribution.
