Theoretical Analysis of the Finish Rolled Gear Tooth Profiles : Third Report, Rolled Tooth Profiles and Modified Tooth Profiles of the Die of Helical Gears

Abstract
A deformation model of finish gear rolling of helical gears is proposed considering deflections of the teeth, local elasto-plastic indentations of the tooth surfaces at the contact points and edge effects near the side edges and the tip of the teeth. The rolled tooth profiles of works and the modified tooth profiles of dies which produce the finish rolled gears with a true involute tooth profile are analyzed theoretically by this model. This model is confirmed to be valid by the experiments using dies with a standard tooth profile and ones with a modified tooth profile determined theoretically.
