Abstract
The internal flow of a torque converter turbine has not yet been clarified experimentally because of difficulty in its measurement. We have measured the internal flow of the turbine by the following experiments. Using a small pipe pressure gauge with a semiconductor-type pressure transducer fixed at the end, the pressure distributions in the flow direction and in the cross section within the flow passage are measured. The measured results are then compared with the calculated ones of 2-dimensional flow analysis. The conclusions are followed. (1) The measured results are coincident with the calculated ones over 0.65 speed ratio. (2) The flow at the inlet of turbine is turburent, while the flow at the outlet of turbine is not turburent.
