Abstract
In this study, a simple equation for calculating condensation heat transfer coefficients of pure refrigerants in horizontal micro-fin tubes is proposed. Two new parameters, i.e. the Bond number and the area ratio, are introduced in order to describe this complex heat transfer mechanism. Furthermore, the liquid distribution inside the micro-fin tube is classified into four typical patterns, and a fitted function is developed for each liquid distribution with the new parameters. The calculated results exhibited good agreement with the experimental results, and it was shown that the influence of the major specification of the micro-fin tube, i.e. pipe diameter, fin height, fin pitch and fin tip angle, on condensation heat transfer were well predicted.
