A Case of the Family in Which Positive Direct Coombs' Test Appeared in Almost All Members Owing to the Sensitizanion of Red Blood Cells under cold Condition

Abstract

The author has found a case of positive direct Coombs' test on the blood of the hushand cooled to room temperature by investigating the each blood of parents whose new-born had died under melena-like symptomes. Then the author found that in almost all kin members of the husband (except one of his elder sister) positive reactions by direct Coombs' test were demonstrated and these positive reactions were observed under cold condition at room temperature (15°〜20℃) owing to sensitization of red blood cells. On the other hand, by means of the other serological examinations there was not a man or woman of any evident blood disease except slight anaemia in members of the blood-relation(Miyoshi-ke)of the husband. But the author considers that this positive direct Coombs' test might be related with congelation urticaria of the husband even if the author did not find general relation with special disease to these positive reactions. Before long the author found these self-binding incomplete cold haemagglutinins which caused the positive direct Coombs' tests were belonging in non-γ-globulin fractions (almost in α_2-globulin fraction) by means of serological and electrophoretic examinations. Then the author considers this haemaggglutinis are belonged to one special kind gf incomplete cold agglutinis (Dacie called) which sensitizes to red blood cells even under warmer condition of room temperture. As there is such self-binding incomplete cold haemagglutinin which has not direct relation to evident disease, the author thinks, the examiner must investigate circumspectively in direct Coombs' test and must not apt to neglect scrutiny of the result.
