Abstract

Crossreactivities between rabbit anti-Ta (Tokunagayusurika akamusi), anti-Cp (Chironomus plumosus), anti-Cy (Chironomus yoshimatsui) and anti-Df (Dermatophagoides farinae) and mouse anti-Ta, -Cp, -Cy antisera were tested by ELISA. When antigen, Ta, Cp, Cy or Df was coated on 96-well microplates, the lgG fractions of these antisera reacted with not only homologous antigens but also heterologous antigens. A mouse monoclonal anti-Ta (416-23-7) was found to crossreact with Cp and Cy. However, when the lgG fraction of rabbit anti-Ta was coated on the plates and the antigens, homologous or heterologous, were captured by these antibodies, HRP0-labeled rabbit anti-Ta was found to specifically react only with Ta antigens. Similar results were observed in the cases of "anti-Df, HRPO-anti-Df" and "416-23-7 HRPO-416-23-7", suggesting that epitopes involved in the crossreactions are not expressed in a repeating manner on an antigen molecule, and that there are not so many kinds of crossreacting epitopes.
