抄録
In this paper, we propose a fundamental idea of a new CAD architecture to facilitate design knowledge management. This architecture is based on knowledge-based design environment for encouraging the designer to externalize his/her knowledge. We also discuss the implementation of this idea. DDMS (Design Documentation Management System) works as a front end for KIEF (Knowledge Intensive Engineering Framework), which we have been developing. We also illustrate an example of machining tool design to demonstrate the system's features.
