The concept of fresh surface area is proposed to solve the mechanism of corrosive wear of corrosion-resistant alloy under sliding because it is important to evaluate fresh surface area on corrosive wear. In this work, wear test of Zr-alloy and SUS304 steel against three ceramics were carried out in pure water and Na_2SO_4 solution. Wear of Zr-alloy was in severe wear. Whereas, that of SUS304 steel was in severe wear against ZrO_2 in pure water at heavy load condition. In Na_2SO_4 solution, wear was prevented by the lubrication effect of corrosive products. The ratio of fresh surface area in the wear track was ranged from 1-4 to 1/10 in Zr-alloy, and was about 1/70 in the case of SUS304 steel.
