In engineering design research, numerous design process models have already been proposed. For constructing model of synthesis, it is very important to know the position of the model among them. This paper reports results of comparison of some design process models with the synthesis oriented thought process model. We use a reference model as an example of design, compare it with some existing design process models, and the results of this analysis are described.
