Bilateral interface for Steer-by-Wire vehicle is discussed. Haptic interface is considered as an effective system for the system, where vehicle state feedback to the driver will be realized through the reactive torque. In this study, a curvature commanding driver model is newly developed, which proves the curvature as the essential controlled variable for human lane following driving. Construction of a realtime simulator and the experiments using the system is sketched. The simulator is now in preparation, while it has suggested the validity of driver model, and the effectiveness of D^* control.
