Vibration Intensity (VI) technique is one of the effective ways for identifying the excitation sources and vibration transmission paths in the mechanical structure. In the present paper, effects of in-plane vibration on vibrational energy flow in shell were studied. FEM analysis was conducted on vibration transmission in shell with in-plane excitation. VI was calculated on the basis of VI formulation for cylindrical shell. Results suggested that energy by in-plane vibration was transformed into that by flexural vibration.
