As the author suggested in his former work, it is important to optimize the combination of specification parameters of carbody and truck connecting elements to reduce bending vibration of railway carbody and to improve riding comfort. This report presents the optimization of the specification parameters using genetic algorithm(GA). The riding comfort level L_T at the center of carbody is employed as objective function and combination of two or more specific parameters are taken as design variables. The beam model is used to calculate L_T, and the effects of carbody and truck connecting elements, such as bolster anchors, are taken into account in the effects of carbody and truck connecting elements, such as bolster anchors, are taken into account in the model. It is shown that L_T can be greatly improved by the GA with reasonable CPU time.
