The purpose of this study was to evaluate forearm motions as we manipulated a product. Physical deformation of muscles and electromyogram (EMG) measurement estimated for forearm motions. In this study, forearm motions are hand opening and grasping, wrist extending and flexing, pronation and supination. Physical deformation of muscles is defined as a variation, such as a protrusion or depression on the surface of skin. The contact pressure sensor measured physical deformation of muscles. Measured data were analyzed by the discriminant analysis based on regression analysis. Physical deformation of muscles and EMG measurement could discriminate forearm motions. Physical deformation of muscles is effective in conclusion of forearm motions.
