Abstract
The authors study the numerical simulation of elasto-plastic problem under plane stress by the finite element method. Calculation is conducted by making use of commercial based software LUSAS . Numerical examples are shown for the thin plate with a central flat hole subjected to proportional loading and cyclic loading. Results are compared and discussed due to the differences of definition of yield points, approximation of stress-strain diagrams and loading paths.
