抄録

TiAl intermetallic compounds are machined by high-precision wire electrical discharging machine (WEDM) in order to compare their reliability of strength to another machining methods and to clarify the influence of machined defects on the mechanical strength. The main results are as follows : The reliability of strength evaluated by four bending tests when machined by high-precision WEDM is higher than these machined by cutting, grinding and polishing. Surface and edge defects formed when machining by high-precision WEDM are smaller and few affect on the mechanical strength.
