Abstract
A semi-infinite elastic body with a debonding and a crack emanating from a stiffened edge under uniform longitudinal shear load is investigated. The respective complex stress function is obtained in closed form by using a conformal mapping function. The stress intensity factor of a crack, the energy release rate of a crack and a debonding are investigated. It can be determined by comparing energy release rate of a crack and a debonding whether a crack initiates or a debonding propagates from a stiffened edge.
