Abstract
Recently, A novel adhesive which can be dismantled has been developed. The adhesive, so called "dismantlable adhesive", consists of resin and thermally expansive particles. Since the adhesive expands greatly as the temperature increases, joints bonded with it can be peeled off due to the internal stress caused in the adhesive layer. In order to investigate the strength and dismantlability of the adhesive and the joint, we carried out lap shear tests and dismantlement tests of specimens fabricated with the adhesive. Moreover, the expansion characteristics of the thermally expansive particles and the adhesive were measured using PVT apparatus. In addition, the relation between dismantlement to the particles content and the thermal expansion characteristic was investigated.
