抄録

Seed germination of Orobanche and Striga is triggered by germination stimulants produced by and released from roots of host and some non-host plants. In the O. ramosa infested area near Adelaide in South Australia, Cretan weed (Hedypnois rhagodioloieds L. Spp. cretica) is one of the host plants of the parasite. Therefore, in this study, germination stimulants from Cretan weed were investigated. Distribution profile of germination stimulation activity after an ODS-HPLC separation indicated that Cretan weed produced several stimulants including orobanchol. The production of orobanchol was confirmed by LC/MS/MS and roots of Cretan weed were found to produce 150pg of orobanchol/day/plant.
