実用化に近づいた自動翻訳の現状に関して,自動翻訳の定義,その利用法,さらに利用する際の注意点について言及した。現在の段階では完全な形で計算機が翻訳作業を行なうのではなく,最も中心になる部分を計算機が行なうシステムである。さらに現在のシステムは,原文の言語と翻訳の目標となる言語の両方を理解できる人が補助的に使うシステムでもある。市販の各システムには基本的な翻訳用の辞書が用意されているが,利用者が独自に追加登録する辞書を使用しないと実用の翻訳にはならない。また,この利用者登録の辞書作りが多大な労力と時間を要することがわかった。

Automatic translation of languages that are coming into practical use is described from the following points of view : the definition of the automatic translation, the usage, the noteworthy facts in case of the introduction. The present satus is on the step of the machineaided translation, not on the step of the fully automatic translation. Although each commercial system provides the basic dictionary, in addition, we have to design our own dictionary to achieve good results.
