Abstract
Many torque sensors are contact types or use specially processed shafts. However, such sensors suffer from various problems such as frictional wear, cost, and installation. This paper describes a sensor that detects the torque of non-special processed shafts by means of the inverse magnetostrictive effect, and shows the effectiveness of demagnetization and the possibility of non-contact measurement in low-carbon steel shafts. The output of the sensor was increased 2.37times, and the hysteresis of the output was reduced to 1/14 by demagnetization.
