Abstract
A 56-yr-old man with a 30-year history of work dealing with artificial abrasive was found to have multiple endobronchial tubercles in large airways by bronchofiberscopy. Apart from transient pleural effusion, old inflammatory lesion in the right lung field and egg-shell calcifications of mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes ; no pulmonary fibrosis due to dust inhalation was seen on chest x-ray film. Electron microscopic analysis revealed a characteristic x-ray peak for SiC in some particles and for alumina in other particles in the specimens obtained from an endobronchial tubercle.
