学術雑誌の共同保存としての「JSTOR」の紹介(<特集>メディアの保存と管理)  [in Japanese] JSTOR:An electronic archive of academic journals(<Special feature>Preservation and management of information media)  [in Japanese]

Abstract

多くの出版物が電子化される中, JSTORはバックナンバーのみを電子化するアーカイブプロジェクトとして注目を集めている。JSTORは, 学術誌のバックファイル所蔵管理に伴う問題を解決する目的で, メロン財団により設立された非営利団体である。JSTORは電子化された学術誌のバックナンバーを初号より, オンラインにて提供するアーカイブプロジェクトである。ここではJSTORの背景, 特徴, 利用統計, 契約の方法などについて簡単に説明したいと思う。

JSTOR occupies a very unique position among other electronic publishing project. JSTOR is a digital archiving project, which only deals with back numbers. JSTOR is a non-profit organization established by Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 1995. In this article, I will briefly explain its background, characteristics, statistics, and contracts.
