Abstract
J. Jpn. For. Soc. 84 : 280〜283, 2002 Topographic and land use features were investigated at seventy-five important areas for forest recreation and tourism in the Kasumigaura Watershed Regional Forest Planning Unit, southern Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, which includes an extensive area of flatlands. As a result, these important areas were classified into four groups according to their topographic features and further sub-classified into thirteen sub-groups according to their land use patterns. Eight of the thirteen sub-groups were covered in this study. The relationship among the thirteen sub-groups and six factors, which had been identified according to the types of resources and facilities used for recreation/tourism in each important area in a previous study, were examined. As a result, there were diverse relationships between the sub-groups and the factors. This result supports the conclusion from a previous study conducted in a hilly and mountainous region.
