We studied the clinical data on the 2 kinds of multivitamin preparations, NK-041 (trial preparation) and MVI (commercially distributed preparation), for intravenous hyperalimentation (IVH) and compared one another. 1. Since MVI does not contain vitamin B_<12>, K, folic acid and biotin which were included in NK-041, the vitamins were administered by intravenous or intramusclur methods 2. During the administration of NK-041 and MVI, neither avitaminosis nor hypervitaminosis was observed and a side effect which was thought to be due to the preparations was observed in NK-041. 3. During the administration of NK-041 and MVI, clinical laboratory studies revealed that no abnormality due to the preparatins was observed in all the patients. 4. During the administration of NK-041, the blood levels of all the administered vitamins varied within the respective normal range or slightly higher levels. On the other hand, rather higher levels on vitamin B_1, B_6, and C and rather lower levels on vitamin E were observed by the administration of MVI. From all these results and observations, it is concluded that the NK-041 is useful as a multivitamin preparation for IVH with safety and good availavility.
