RELIABLE BROAD CAST COMMUNICATION ON GENERAL UNRELIABLE BROADCAST SYSTEM

The reliable broadcast communication is required in distributed applications like distributed database systems. In [SCHN], reliable broadcast protocol which uses one-to-one communication is Presented. [CHAN]discusses the protocol which uses the Ethernet but which is controlled in a centralized manner. A Protocol named a cluster control protocol which provides the totally ordered broadcast(TO)service by using the Ethernet MAC service and based on the distributed control is presented in [TAK87a, b]. In this paper, we define the TO service as one where every station receives the same messages in the same order, and try to design it by adding the reliability with the conventional MAC service and multiple channels.
