Abstract

Here we have a book bound in leather, titled "PORTRAITS DES TRENTE-SIX GRANDS POETES JAPONAIS". It's a collection of skeches, which are copies of "Portraits of Thirty-six Great Japanese Poets" drawn by Tanyu in Edo-period. This was rebound in France. The portraits consisting of 36 separated pieces have turned to be a scroll. The sequence of them has also been restored. In this announcement, the process of restoring the scroll by using a personal computer is reported. In addition to that, in terms of "Ono-no Komachi" and "Ariwara-no Narihira", the restruction of the coloring of their portraits is made an attempt at by using the computer graphics.
