抄録

The relation between the trail-side vegetation and the degree of trail erosion was studied in the Tanzawa Highlands. The differences were observed in the degree of trail erosion, according to the trail-side vegetation or the physical properties of soil. The spread of the trail-width was noticeable in the area with low vegetation cover on the herb layer and the grassland with few roots in the top-soil layer, where the vegetation was disturbed by the stamping. The erosion toward the trail bed was prominent in the place of loamy soil with low water permeability. Contrarily, the spread of the trail width was less confirmed in the dense bamboo grass, and the bed-erosion was suppressed in the place of sandy loam with high water-permeability.
