メーリングリストはグループ・コミュニケーションにおいて一般的であるが,送られたメールは通常はユーザが保持するだけであり共有されない.また送られたメッセージを編集してまとめることはできない.WikiWikiWeb(Wiki)はWeb上で情報を編集・共有するための柔軟で使いやすいシステムであるが,通常は編集履歴を保持せず,また誰が編集したのかはわからない.本論文では,この両者の長所を統合した新しいグループ・コミュニケーション・システムqwikWebを提案する.qwikWebは,メールを送信するだけで新しいメーリングリストを作ることができ,同時に対応するWikiサイトが作成される.全てのメールはWikiページとして蓄積され,通常のWikiページと同じように編集できる.ユーザは特別な管理を必要とせずに,メーリングリストとWikiの両方の機能を同時に活用することができる.

We have developed a new powerful group communication system qwikWeb, which is an integration of mailing list and the WikiWikiWeb (Wiki). A mailing list is very useful for exchanging information between members using standard e-mail framework, but the messages are usually only stored in each member's computer, and old messages cannot be edited. Wiki is a flexible and useful system for storing and exchanging information on the Web, but it does not usually keep information on the editing history and the responsible person for the modification. Users of qwikWeb can create a new mailing list only by sending an e-mail message to the qwikWeb server, and start exchanging information using the new mailing list. At the same time, all the messages are stored in newly created Wiki pages corresponding to the mailing list. In this paper, we describe the basic ideas, implemntation details, and user experiences of the system.
