福岡県西方沖地震調査報告  [in Japanese] Preliminary Report of the 2005 Fukuokaken-Seiho-oki Earthquake  [in Japanese]

Fukuokaken Seiho-oki earthquake (Mj=7.0) happened at 10:53AM on 20^<th> March in 2005. During the earthquake 6 Lower in seismic intensity was monitored in both Fukuoka and Saga Prefectures. Among them the serious damages were observed in Genkai-island and the coast of Hakata bay area. The authors started the site investigation from the next day of the event of earthquake. Collapse of houses due to slope failure of the foundation soil were observed in Genkai-island while liquefaction failures were widely observed in reclaimed lands in the coast of the Hakata bay. The mechanism of the remarkable damage is introduced in the report.
