抄録

The roots of aorta of lower Vertebrae are not throughly investigated not with standing consideradle reports. The author carried out the physiological and comparative anatomical investigation into the aorta of various kinds of lower vertebrae, and obtained the following results; 1) The roots of aorta of Carassius auratus L. and Cyprinus carpial swell out conically. The muscle layer of its wall consists of smooth muscles. It forms truncus arteriosus and not conus arteriosus. A pair of this valvula semilunaris were found between the same place and ventriculus. 2) The roots of aorta of Bufo vulgaris japonicus and Triturus pyrrhogaster swell out too. The muscle layer of it consists of the same muscle as that of heart. It has distinctly conus arteriosus. Some investigators call it, however, Bulbus cordis. Bufo vulgaris japonicus has a valvula spiralis in inner wall of it, and three thin valvulae semilunares in a boundary between ventriculus and aorta. Triturus pyrrhogaster has seven thin valvulae semilunares (4 in mesial and 3 in distal.) 3) The roots of aortae of Gekko japonicus and Clemmys japonicus swell slightly, and are almost cylindrical. The muscle layer of it consists of smooth muscles only. Therefore, this part is truncus arteriosus. In inner wall between the aorta and the ventriculus were found three thin valvulae semilunares. 4) The root of aorta of Gallus domesticus swells slightly and is more cylindrical than that of Gekko japonicus and Clemmys japonicus. The muscle layer of it consists entirely of smooth muscles, and this is truncus arteriosus. In inner wall of it, there are three thick muscular valvulae semilunares between ventriculus and it. 5) The electrocardiograms of Carassius auratus L., Bufo vulgaris japonicus, Triturus pyrrhogaster, Natrix tigrina, Elaphe climacophora, Gekko japonicus, and Clemmys japonicus show positive and negative peaks between R and T. That of Gallus domesticus, albino rat and mouse, however, did not show such peaks. 6) The peak between R and T or S and T is electrocardiogram of lower vertebrae correspond to the action of conus arteriosus (Bulbus cordis) or truncus arteriosus. Such peaks, therefore, correspond to the action of heart-muscles or of smooth muscles. It is reported, however, that the smooth muscles of truncus ariteriosus of the birds want the same action. 7) In the electrocardiogram of Bufo vulgaris japonicus and Natrix tigrina, peaks of roots of aorta are occasionally double-peaked.
