Abstract

Environmental geology of Japan is characterized by the following two points. 1. The study of environmental geology with the objective of solving the environmental and polution problems in earnest since the first half of 1970's. 2. Environmental geology seems to consist of two scientific systems. One belongs to the static environmental science, the purpose of which is to locate the source of polution and to recover the original environment. The other belongs to the dynamic environmental science with purpose of seeking happy life of human beings. Recently the dynamic environmental science is also developing on the basis of the above environmental geology.
