マスムーブメントの発生と島弧変動  [in Japanese] Origin of Mass Movement with reference to Island-Arc Disturbance  [in Japanese]

Abstract

It has been revealed that the present mass movement coincides roughly with that of the older mass movement in the site of occurrence, in the Japanese Islands. With regard to landslide, in particular, the colluvial deposit of the older landslide has repeatedly migrated and supplied the materials for a younger landslide. In Middle Pleistocene and early Late Pleistocene time, the large-scale primary mass movement took place, and from later Late Pleistocene to the present time the small-scale and secondary mass movement occurred. The origin and development of mass movements have been strongly controlled by the active block upheaval, which brought about the fracturing and collapse associated with faulting and successive erosive rejuvenation in the mountains. The block upheaval movement forms a main part of the Island-Arc Disturbance which took place typically in the Japanese Island.
