Abstract
In electron spin resonance (ESR) dating the total amount of radiation-induced centers which have been accumulated in the past by natural U, Th, K are measured, and ESR age is obtained by deviding the total dose by annual dose. A variety of materials, stalactite, fossil shell, bone, volcanic ash and fault have been dated. In this paper, the basic principle of ESR dating, apparatus, sample treatment, the determination of total dose and annual dose and errors of ESR age are described.
