Abstract
The historical background and the basic principle of thermoluminescence dating are reviewed. In addition, this paper will deal with the measurement of thermoluminescence and the derivation of the paleodose, and the measurement of dose-rate and the evaluation of the annual dose, which are common to thermoluminescence dating techniques for pottery and geological materials. Some problems of the sample characteristic and the accuracy and precision of the method are also described.
