Abstract
Many mammalian fossils have been known hitherto from Late Neogene and Quaternary deposits of the Japanese islands. For those deposits a survey was made to confirm the horizons yielding fossils stratigraphically in every regions like as Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku and Shikoku, Kyushu and Ryukyu. As a result, those horizons were arranged zone by zone from the views of litho-, magneto-, bio- and chrono-stratigraphy. Conclusively, the following seven stages with ten biozones are assignable.
