Abstract
The seismicity around the Median Tectonic Line (MTL) was compared with those of San Andreas, Alpine, North Anatoria, Philippine, Sumatra, Atacama, and Tancheng-Lujiang fault. These faults are the boundaries of plates and blocks in the plate, and have some seismicity along them. It was known that there were no micro-earthquakes along the MTL, but some researchers proposed that the great Keicho earthquake in 1596 occurred on the MTL. Additionally, the pattern of the seismicity in the north side of the MTL is quite different from that in the south side. Further, the directions of the horizontal maximum stress are differed in each region. These mean that the MTL is the boundary of blocks in the shear-zone of Eastern Asia.
