地球化学的にみた西南日本の下部白亜系と韓半島の慶尚層群の後背地地質体の関係と推積環境 Geochemical indication of provenance linkage and sedimentary environment of the Lower Cretaceous of Southwest Japan and Kyeongsang Supergroup, Korean Peninsula

Abstract

西南日本の下部白亜系頁岩の元素組成をもとに, これらの地層のprovenceと堆積環境を考察した。上部古生界を含む長門構造帯の吉母(Yoshimo)層および千石(Sengoku)層の希土類(REE)および微量元素組成は上部大陸地殻の組成を代表するとされているPAAS (post-Archean Australian shales)に類似する。千石層と韓半島南部の慶尚(Kyeongsang)盆地の河陽(Hayang)層群の元素組成は類似しており, 両者のprovenanceは密接な関係を持っていたと考えられる。吉母層はPAASに比べ, Y, Hf, REEなどの元素がやや富んでいる。稲倉(Inakura)層や篠山(Sasayama)層群などより若い地帯群を覆っている地層は, PAASとは異なる元素組成を示す。Th-Hf-CoおよびLa-Th-Sc判別図において, 河陽層群, 千石層, 吉母層はPAAS組成ときわめて類似している。篠山層群と稲倉層はPAASとはやや異なるが依然として近い位置にプロットされる。したがってこれら下部白亜系頁岩の元素組成は上部大陸地殻の平均値を示しており, これまで砂岩の組成について報告されていたものとは異なる結果を示す。これらの下部白亜系からはストロマトライトが特徴的に産する。また, これらの頁岩がやや高い硫黄含有量と金属元素の濃集を示すことから, 白亜紀古世の乾燥気候時に塩湖が形成されたものと考えられる。

Geochemical composition of some Lower Cretaceous shales, Southwest Japam has been analyzed for evaluation of their provenance and sedimentary environment. The Yoshimo and the Sengoku Formations in the Nagato tectonic zone of Upper Paleozoic are similar to PAAS (post-Archean Australian shales) in REE (rare earth elements) and other trace elemenls. Geochemical similarity between the Scngoku Formation and the Hayang Group of the Kyeongsang basin suggests their close linkage in the provenance. The Yoshimo shale shows slight enrichment in Y, Hf and REE compared to PAAS. The Inakura Formation and Sasayama Group lying on the relatively younger accreted terranes show highly variation to the PAAS. In the Th-Hf-Co and La-Th-Sc ternary diagrams, Kyeongsang, Sengoku, Yoshimo, show distinctly similar to PAAS composition, and Sasayama and Inakura show a slight difference from the PAAS in diagrams but still close to it. Thus geochemical indicators of shales show an average of the upper crust, which may include difference from the sandstone composition previously described. Stromatolite occurrence is substantial for these Cretaceous shales. Present examination of relatively higher sulfur content and metal enrichment in these shales indicates appearance of saline lake environment in arid Climate.
