付加体のout-of-sequence thrust  [in Japanese] Out-of-sequence thrust of an accretionary complex  [in Japanese]

Abstract

This article reviews out-of-sequence thrusts in accretionary complexes on the basis of the geometry, mechanics, discriminating indexes and future themes. The Shimanto accretionary complex is one of the best on-land examples in the world, which offers many data of the geologic structures, paleogeothermometry and isotopic age that help to constrain the structural features of out-of-sequence thrusts. It has at least 13 mappable out-of-sequence thrusts, which could be classified into two types based on the cut-off relationship to a paleogeothermal structure. Type I structures form a discontinuity surface of a paleogeothermal structure, that may be correlative to the seismogenic thrusts in an accretionary prism and may dislocate tectonic units over a great distance of more than 17 km. Type II structures do not truncate a paleogeothermal structure, and may correspond to the non-seismogenic thrusts. The out-of-sequence thrusts greatly contribute to rethickening of an accretionary prism, uplifting of underplated units, and the evolution of slope basins.
