Abstract

Physical propagation environment around the mobile station is often described as a multipath environment, where power is received through diffraction over rooftops and building corners, reflections from walls and scattering in general from surrounding objects. When several multipath components scatter from the same point, it is seen as a cluster in the receiver. To study the propagation environment experimentally, measured direction-of-arrival data was clusterized and the clusters were studied separately. The measurements consist of two separate continuous mobile routes in an urban environment, one measurement on a street and the other at a square. From the extracted clusters their source points were located to the environment and some describing values were calculated. Common scattering sources were identified and the amount of significant clusters is discussed.
