Abstract
2.16GOPS/720MFLOPSの動作性能を180MHzの動作周波数と1・2Wの消費電力で実現し、170種類のメディア処理命令を備えたスーパースカラマイクロプロセッサを1.8V, 0.21umCMOSプロセスで製造した。MPEG2(MP@ML)のデコード向けに、SIMDタイプのメディア処理命令をしている。備え、16ビットの整数積和および累積演算を4個同時に実行できるメディア処理専用演算器や可変長符号処理を高速に行なうための演算器を搭載している。
We developed a microprocessor with single instruction multiple data stream (SIMD) architecture and as many as 170 media instructions for multimedia embedded systems. We designed and fabricated the microprocessor via 0.21m CMOS technology, and the chip achieved a performance of 2.16 GOPS/720 MFLOPSμm at a 180 MHz operating frequency with a 1.2 W power dissipation.
