インピーダンス整合回路を用いたUHFキャリア型ヘッドの高出力特性  [in Japanese] Output Characteristics of UHF Carrier Type Head using Impedance Matching Circuit  [in Japanese]

Abstract

将来の高密度磁気記録の要素技術である高出力磁気ヘッドの実現を目的に, UHF帯での透磁率変化を磁界検出原理に用いた磁気ヘッドの出力特性を検討した. 本ヘッドでは信号磁界をキャリア信号の振幅変調波として再生する. 今回, ヘッド素子と周辺回路系を結ぶ最適伝送法としてインピーダンス整合技術を提案した. これにより狭トラック化に伴うヘッドインピーダンスの低下に対しても高出力特性の維持が可能となる. 最大出力は50Ω整合特に20.5mV_<pp>/μm, 1kΩ整合時に127mV_<pp>/μmと, 従来ヘッドを大幅に越える特性が得られた. また今回, 帯域幅は付加インピーダンスの発生および整合線路の帯域幅によって数十MHzに制限されたが, 実装技術の改善, 2段4分の1波長整合線路の採用により100MHz以上の広帯域化が可能であることを示した.

A new type of thin-film head, which employs a permeability change at UHF, was investigated for its output characteristics for application to high density magnetic recording. As the track becomes narrower, the output decreases because of the lower head-impedance. To overcome this problem, impedance matching was selected as the optimum technique for connecting the head with other circuits. Output voltage of 20.5mV_<pp> / μm and 127mV_<pp> / μm were achieved for 50Ω and 1 kΩ matched heads. These values are much higher than those for conventional heads. Also, 3dB-bandwidth of > 100 MHz was calculated for both heads. These results reveal that this head has the potential for high density reproducing.
