Abstract
There is a growing need for a high-speed and broadband CCSN, because of rapid increase in intelligent services and mobile communications. This paper discussses evolution of CCSN and proposes a new network architecture, focusing on the in intermediate era when the CCSN has only be enhanced in terms of higher signaling rates and throughputs. Then, it envisages example usages of the advanced CCSN (A-CCSN) : rapid installation of the state of the art hardware technologies to large scale public communication systems, efficient use of the transport network resources, and substantial reduction in maintenance work-load for transport node systems. From this viewpoint, this paper further proposes a distributed control architecture consisting of a call server function, data bases and connection control functions. Although this distrubuted system has some advantages, it has some demerits of signaling load. However, it si shown that the A-CCSN can afford such sophisticated control in terms of transmission capabilities.
