Abstract
画質客観評価の枠組みとしてはFR(Full Reference :処理画と原画を直接比較),NR(NO Reference :処理画のみで評価), RR(Reduced Reference :画質特微量を抽出伝送して比較)があり,現在はFRの勧告が4方式併記でまとまったところである.
Recently, there has been a strong demand for objective quality assessment methods for multimedia, which is spreading wide and fast. International bodies such as ITU recognize the need, and the standardization activities about this issue are in progress. This paper reports the current status of these activities, focusing mainly on video quality assessment. The frameworks for objective measurement of video quality include Full Reference (direct comparison of the original and the processed), No Reference (evaluation using only received pictures), and Reduced Reference (comparison of image features). An FR recommendation, which describes four different methods, has been published. More R & D efforts on this area are expected.
