Abstract

ユビキタスセンシング環境では,小さな処理負荷で入の動作を認識・理解できる画像センサヘのニーズが高い.著者らは,このニーズに応えるために,カラー画像と奥行き画像を同時にリアルタイムで取得し,奥行き画像情報の利用により膨大な計算量なしに対象物体を抽出できる新たな画像入力技術を開発した.カラー画像と奥行き画像を同時に撮像可能な単一のイメージセンサと,それを用いたカメラシステムを試作した.奥行き画像の取得は,発光とその反射像撮像の原理に基づいており,小型,低コストに製造可能である.

In order to construct an ubiquitous sensing environment, it is desirable to have a compact vision system for recognition of human motion. We developed a technology which captures both color and depth images in real time. We developed a new image sensor which is able to capture both types of images simultaneously and prototyped a compact camera system using the image sensor. Because the capture of depth image is based on reflection image, it is possible to manufacture the camera system at low cost. The application of depth image results in a great reduction of calculation cost for object extraction, and moreover, is expected to facilitate recognition of human motion.
