Abstract
As multimedia equipment diverses, we have come to use the digital devices, such as over-head digital cameras, frequently. However, the blurred images produced by low-resolution digital equipment redounded the mischief on observer's visual system. In this paper, we attempt to evaluate the effects of blurred images by analyzing human eye movements during reading the blurred Japanese composition. The results showed that reading rate and amplitude of saccade increased, while fixations and their duration, Saccades and their amplitude and regressions saccades decreased depending on blurring level. Our findings suggest that the influence of blurred images on observer's visual system could be evaluated objectively by monitoring eye movements.
