Abstract
自己収束ならびに自己発散形非線形媒質を含むグレーティング装荷非線形方向性結合器の光強度依存光スイッチング特性を、結合理論を用いて解析し、光スイッチング特性を検討している。解析の結果、グレーティング装荷によって位相整合をはかると、従来の均一結合導波路で構成される非線形方向性結合器に比べて小さな光電力で光スイッチング特性が得られることを示す。また、導波路中に含まれる損失の効果についても検討を加えている。
A novel nonlinear directional coupler,whose waveguide cores are assumed to have a self-focusing or self-defocusing nonlinear material and incorporates a grating to assist the process of all- optical switching,is proposed to improve switching characteristics. Its optical switching characteristics are analyzed by using the coupled-mode theory.It is presented that the characteristics of optical switching in the grating-assisted nonlinear directional coupler are better than that of a conventional nonlinear directional coupler consisting of uniform symmetric coupled waveguides.That is,the critical power of the grating-assisted nonlinear directional coupler is smaller than the conventional nonlinear directional coupler.In addition,the effects of loss on the characteristics of grating-assisted nonlinear directional coupler are examined.
