Abstract
This report deals with estimation of the face direction of the talker, using acoustic reflection characteristics. The face direction information can be used as auxiliary information to recognize the attention of the talker and to reject filler utterances. We propose a method to estimate the face direction of the talker by comparing the transfer functions between spatially located microphones. The result shows that the difference between high frequency gain of horizontally positioned microphones varies with horizontal angle of the direction of the subject and the difference between the gain of vertically positioned microphones varies with the vertical angle.
