The Unusual Nest of a Leaf-Cutting Bee, Megachile igniscopata COCKERELL from the Iriomote Island, Southernmost Japan (Hymenoptera, Megachilidae)

Abstract

A nest of Megachile igniscopata containing 21 female and 1 undetermined cells was found in a Pandanus trunk on the Iriomote Island, Okinawa Pref. The nest architecture is compared with that of other Japanese leaf-cutting bees. This is the first record of the nest architecture of M. igniscopata.
